Chelsie’s Research and Awards

Welcome! Chelsie Boodoo earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a minor in Chemistry from Florida International University (FIU). She moved to East Lansing, Michigan to go to Michigan State University (MSU) where she received her Master in Biomedical Engineering and she is now studying for her Ph.D. in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering. Her dissertation focuses developing a rapid use, low-cost, biosensor to detect African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV). At the 2016 FIU McNair Conference she won 1st Place Oral Presentation in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science for her research in Raman Spectroscopy conducted at Texas A&M University. In 2019, she won 1st Place Best Poster Presentation in Health, Food Safety and Biomechanics at the MSU Engineering Symposium for her research on how mechanics affect the extracellular matrix of the bladder.

Chelsie was featured in the MSU Fall Welcome Back Video. You can hear her voice at the beginning and see her on her microscope at 1:15 in the video to the right. In the summer of 2020, she was featured by MSU Admissions to virtually welcome the new incoming students.
